Shredding scissors.
Smart Stuff reader Rich M. sends us this tip about a smart pair (well actually there are five pairs) of scissors. Here's the ultimate invention for people who may want to shred the occasional document, but sees no need for a big electric shredder. The shredding scissors have made the rounds, but we thought that the Smart Stuff archives could not be without it. Available from a Japanese office- and computer stuff web-shop (we think) but it is all Japanese to us, unfortunately. However, the Gizmodo blog has somehow managed to find out that the thing is JPY 2,010 ( about USD 17:- ).

EZ Plug wall plug helper.
We realize that wall power sockets can be hard to manage sometimes. In those cases maybe one of these EZ Plugs can be just the ticket? Attached to the end of the power cable of frequently used tools and appliances, like a vacuum or perhaps blender, it could make life a little easier for people with, for instance, arthritic hands. Vypar Products X-treme tape...Vypar Products X-treme tape

Super tape does all, needs no glue.
This is a new silicone based tape that can be used as electrical tape (isolates up to 8,000 volts), heat tape (takes up to +500°F, makes a waterproof bond, works in cold down to -60°F and bonds only to itself. It will stretch up to three times its length without breaking, is easily shaped, and withstands UV-light, acids and fuels. As soon as it is rolled over itself, it starts to bond and after 24 hours it has fused into a permanent bond. The X-treme tape is USD 26:08 for 4 rolls of 10 feet by 1 inch on Amazon. Stanley Fubar multi tool
Crowbar on steroids.
This tool from Stanley is a bit of a re-invention of the good old crowbar. The FatMax Xtreme Fubar Functional Utility Bar is updated with new functions and with a new grip friendly handle. The upper part has jaws made to fit common lumber dimensions, like the classic twobyfour, and the top also sports a hammer. The lower part has a classic crowbar and a beveled nail extractor. The Deckmaster hidden deck screw bracket
Build your deck with no visible screws.
Deckmaster is a new tool from Grabber to be used to build decks. With the Deckmaster you can build a deck without visible screws by joining the deck from beneath with these brackets. A package of 10 powder coated brackets and required screws are about USD 40:-, and the same thing in stainless steel is about USD 60:-. Should be available through hardware store most anywhere, but you can also find them on Amazon, where a ten-pack is USD 34:95.
