Possibly the the world's smallest flashlightPossibly the the world's smallest flashlight

This must be the world's smallest flashlight.
It is tiny but it packs a pretty heavy punch. It is supposed to shine for up to 600 hours on one battery. It is fastened right on top of an ordinary 9V battery and it has two levels of light intensity; one LED or two LED's. We found it on X-trem Geek at USD 24:95 (ca SEK 175:-). Cheap? Naah, but it is small and kinda cool.

Cheap work gloves for garden and garage Cheap work gloves for garden and garage

Cheap work gloves for garden and garage.
There are probably hundreds of small jobs and chores around the house when you would wish you had a pair of gloves. With the garden, the car, the bike, the boat. You name it. With this dirt cheap glove you can stash a pair just about anywhere you suspect you might need them. They are simple cotton gloves with a rubberized palm and fingers for grip enhancement. We now have pairs stored all over the place. They probably will not last for ever, but hey, they are SEK 10:- (USD 1:35) a pair at Clas Ohlson, so what if we have to get a new pair every now and then. Available in black or white in two sizes; his and hers.

Portable gas stove with wok
Have a wok-out!
If you have tried, you know it is great. If not, you are in for a treat. Cooking in a wok outside on a warm summer night is something to long for. It is even okay on a rainy afternoon on the porch. You do not really need a fancy gas cooker like the one above, even though it makes temperature control easier. You can actually just put the wok down in the hot coals in your barbie. Doing this, the simplest kind of round bottomed wok, one without frills like non-stick coating and such, works best. Make a rather large and hot bed of coals before you start, and make sure all your ingredients are chopped and ready beforehand. Once you start, you do not want to go into the house to look for the fish sauce, believe us. You can find woks most anywhere nowadays, but if you have an asian grocery store nearby, try them first. They usually stock the simple and cheap wok you want. Pick one with a rounded bottom if they have both kinds (the flat-bottomed ones are for electric stove tops). Gas cookers are found in fancier kitchen supply stores. They usually cost like a better BBQ.

Polishing the bottom of a drink can with Autosol...Polishing the bottom of a drink can with Autosol

That did it!
A little bit of Autosol and about ten minutes of work accomplished more than the chocolate and almost an hour of toil the other day. It is obvious that milk chocolate is not the ideal abrasive. We feel confident, though, that we would have gotten there with the chocolate and a lot more work. With the Autosol it was a walk in the park. Now the bottom of the is like a mirror. (Actually you can see the reflection of the camera in the picture on the right.) Now we are waiting for sunshine. Stay tuned for further reports... Click here for previous posts.

A titanium spork for the really serious weight watchers.
Packing for an expedition, you tend to count every ounce of weight. After all, you are going be carrying it on your back for the duration. This can be equally important regardless of the destination; Patagonia for six months or just down to the fishing stream or for a hike around the block. So for those among us that just have to have the lightest stuff available we present the amazing titanium spork from japanese Snow Peak. It will not get much lighter than this. The titanium spork is USD 9:90 on Amazon.
