Sauce server with built in thermos

Thermo sauce server.
A while ago we posted on the double walled cooking pot, that makes warming anything in hot water much easier. We have also presented the Bodum double walled thermo glasses that keep coffee warm (and whisky cold) longer, and a series of thermo bowls for ice cream, salad, soup or anything else you want to keep cold or warm. Today the turn has come for this thermo sauce or gravy server with thermo properties due to the double wall construction. Just fill the void between the walls with hot water and the ceramic server will keep the sauce warm longer. The server holds ca 4 dl (about 13 fl.oz) and it is SEK 98:50 (approx USD 13:50) at the Sparköp web shop.

Drago, den hopfällbara skrindan av Karin Frykberg...Drago, den hopfällbara skrindan av Karin Frykberg

Collapsible cart.
For some reason we have an affection for everything collapsible, so when we got a mail from Karin Frykberg, inventor of the Drago collapsible cart, we took a look at once. We have actually had our eyes on the Drago cart for some time, ever since we first saw it at an exhibition at the Stockholm Technical Museum, but not gotten around to posting a story on it. We thought it was pretty smart back then, in particular for boating, camping or holidaying in the islands where there are not cars. For some reason it has been sitting in our in-tray until Karin's mail got us going. So here it is. The Drago. Invented by Karin Frykberg of Västerås and for sale on Drago's own web site for SEK 695:- (about USD 95:-). Available in red, blue or black.

We don't charge for postings here on Smart Stuff, but we do reserve the right to pick and choose among contributions. That's life, so please don't get cross if your invention does not make it. Send us another, instead! Love, /Ed.

Pilkington Activ™ self cleaning window glass

Self cleaning windows. Not a day too soon.
We have lots of windows. More than fifty large and small panes and doors that need cleaning at least twice yearly. This might be a solution, if we could find the energy (and the money) to exchange all of them. Guess we don't, but maybe it is an invention to keep in mind if one was ever to build a new house. The self-cleaning windows uses a new kind of glass from Pilkington called Activ and the glass utilizes Mother Nature to help clean the windows. Organic dirt is broken down by a combination of sunlight and the window's coating. The next rain than washes it all away. Smart. Pilkington Activ. Via Stylish Panda.

Hercules Hooks - hooks for drywall that do not make crater-like holes

Hooks for drywall that don't make crater-like holes.
Most (or at least anyone living in a newer home) have one or more walls covered with drywall plasterboard. If you are one of these people, you have probably encountered the problem of hanging things on the walls, like pictures, large mirrors, bookcases, etc. Plasterboard can be pretty brittle, but also surprisingly strong if you do it right. So what is right? Our all time favorite (acting on the principle of "better ten times too strong than just a teensy weensy bit too weak") is the Molly expansion plug, but a big fat Molly can sometimes seem to be a touch of over-kill for just a picture frame or a mirror. In those cases maybe this thread hook, the Hercules Hook, can be just the thing. It can, according to the site, be used to hang stuff up to 150 lb. without using any tools, and leaving only a small pinprick hole in the wall (everybody who has ever tried to remove a Molly plug knows what we are saying, here). Ten Hercules Hooks are USD 9:95 on Amazon. Via Home Improvement.

USBCell - Batteries that can be charged in the USB port
Batteries that charge in the USB port.
There is not much to add, except a tip of the hat. A "AA" size battery that can be charged using the USB port. It is called USBCell, comes from Moixa and it is GBP 12:99 (about USD 25:-) for a two-pack. Via Elmanco.
