SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | CULTURE |..1..2..3..4..5...................................USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS Welcome to the Smart Stuff culture section where we collect some of the world's smartest gadgets, inventions and ideas in culture, arts and crafts. Also browse the useful tips and tricks page for some clever and useful ideas. Spring show at the College of Arts, Crafts & Design. When it became known that the Stockholm University College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack) was being relocated, we were among those that feared the worst would be the result of what we perceived was an exile to Telefonplan. Now, after the first spring show at the old Ericson factory we must reconsider, and admit our mistake. And we are happy about it, too. The level of creativity is as high as always, and the new studios and work shops provide light and space that cannot be compared to the old place. This year's spring show of course had lots more than what we show here, but we make shameless use of our privilege to choose only the stuff that interests us the most. Enjoy: ![]() Coffee machine for the elderly. Products made to make life a little simpler for the elderly or disabled does not have to be beige and boring. That's the point of Christina Marx (mail), and we agree. Her coffee machine is not only good looking, it has ergonomic features that could be appreciated both by the elderly and the young. ![]() New family, new home. A house that can be mass produced but retains a high level of architectural skills, an efficient home with good materials that age with grace. This is a first house for the new family, designed to be elegant and smart without being above the buyers means. Marco Checchi has designed the house that will be somewhere around SEK 1.5 million (just over USD 205,000:-) for 110 sqm (1,200 sqft) and three bedrooms. The house is under evaluation for possible production. See more here. ![]() Make your own lily pond. Johanna Garheden has created these nice lily pond rugs. They are thought to form stepping stones on a cold floor and are available in different sizes. The designer takes orders directly through her home-page here. ![]() Smart solutions for special needs. Stuff that facilitates life for the elderly and disabled should not have to be boring or right out ugly. Josephine Drakenberg proves this with her collection of smart products under the brand Bonus. Here is for instance the string-less apron that stays up with a built-in flexible plastic strip (left), the mug/glass cover that not only protects from heat but also provides an extra handle (middle) and the slippers that have ribbons to make them easier to put on. See more at Nytta Design. ![]() A rugged outdoor seat. Chandra Ahlsell and Anna Holmquist has among other things made this seat meant for city environments. They are made from one piece of steel, cut and bent and has only one weld. It will probably be given a kind of rubberized surface that will be more comfortable to sit on. See more of their ideas at Folkform. 30 May 2005 The post on the CAC&D exhibition continues on the next page -> THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..1..2..3..4..5 DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | MOTOR CYCLES | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
