SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | PERSONAL CARE |..1..2..3..4..5.....> Welcome to the Smart Stuff personal care section with some of the world's smartest gadgets, inventions and ideas for personal care. Below, and on the other pages, you'll find our constantly updated archive of the world's smartest personal care gadgets and tools. ![]() Easier flossing with the Hummingbird. Believe us, we used to hate flossing. Our teeth are simply too tight together for it to be quick and easy. The floss used to stick and break and it was a general pain in the gums. So, frankly, we did not do it as often as we should have. At least not until we found this little miracle flossing tool. Meet the Hummingbird, the battery powered vibrating dental floss holder. The Hum and us are a match made in heaven. Thanks to the vibrations, the floss slides down between the teeth with little or no trouble, and flossing is a lot easier. Oral B also claims that the vibrations actually are good for the gums, but we dont know about that. It tickles a whole lot, though. Available from for instance Teknikmagasinet at SEK 65:- (approx. USD 8:-) with five toothpicks and three floss things. 20 December 2005 ![]() The Tweezerman tweezer. My SO and partner in this madness, M-L, swears by these tweezers. She says they are the best she has ever owned, and would have a hard time doing some of the girl-things she needs to do without them (you girls out there will probably know what they are). The tweezer business has been virtually unknown to us up until now, but to-day we have learned that the Tweezerman brand is pretty famous, and considered very good by professional personal care people. The Tweezerman company in Houston, TX, even offers to re-sharpen your dulled tweezers for free if you send them in. We had no idea tweezers needed to be sharpened... From the make-up, etc. store Cow on Mäster Samuelsgatan 9, in Stockholm. It was SEK 200:- (approx. USD 25:-). 16 December 2005 ![]() The ox bile soap. One of the main ingredients in this soap is fresh ox bile. This does not sound very fancy, but the fact of the matter is the soap is very pleasant on the skin. It is said to be effective, too, since bile is a natural fat dissolving substance. The rest of the soap consists of ecologically produced coconut- and palm oil from Fair Trade projects in Brazil and the Dominican Republic, plus chlorophyll to act as a grass stain remover. We have not been able to test the grass stain thing (it's freezing outside) but the soap seems to be a killer when it comes to fat and it does leave our hands nice and soft after use. Above all it does not dehydrate, which most (or all) strong cleaners do. Galltvål (Bile soap). 11 December 2005 ![]() Your personal defibrillator. Some people are almost impossible to find gifts for. Folks who already have virtually everything you can think of, and cannot think of anything to wish for themselves. For those people we have a possible solution; we think very few people have one of these. We got this tip from reader Cecilia N. (thank you, Cecilia!) who writes to us about the Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator. Yep, that is right. Your very own defibrillator. How cool can you get, gadget-wise? Now, every fan of Chicago Hope and The third Shift can practice emergency rescue in the privacy of their own home. Jokes aside, this machine can probably save lives if properly used at the right time by people who know what they are doing. It is probably way too serious to be joked about, but we got carried away. It happens a lot. Sorry. Read more after the jump to Philips' site below. The home defib is USD 1,495:- on Amazon. 4 December 2005 ![]() Foot file from the carpenter's shop. Microplane is famous for their outstanding woodworking tools and super sharp kitchen graters developed from the same basic idea. Now they have taken another step and are likely to revolutionize another segment. Here comes the Microplane foot file with 95 tiny bi-directional teeth. Like their other products, it works like a dream. Our significant other has many years of experience with foot files and similar tools, and says this one is the best she has tried. Ever. We cannot say if it is out in shops yet, but once there, it will cost somewhere in the vicinity of SEK 250:- (USD 32:-). Maybe a little on the steep side for us guys, but M-L says she would not hesitate a second. 15 September 2005 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..1..2..3..4..5.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
