SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | KITCHEN FURNITURE |..1..2...........................USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS Welcome to the Smart Stuff kitchen furniture section with some of the world's smartest gadgets, inventions and ideas for making your kitchen smarter and easier to work in. Also browse the useful tips and tricks page for some clever and useful ideas. ![]() Power track with movable outlets. This power track is conceived along the same lines as the spotlight tracks you find in shops and offices. But here all outlets are easily movable, and there's room for up to 16 outlets per meter of track (with the EU power adaptor 12). The track has been developed and patented by the Singapore company Eubiq, and it is available in large parts of the world; e.g. Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. As of yet not in the Americas, though. The picture shows the euro-plug adapter, but adapters are also available for UK, Australian, Indian, and Japanese standards. The track is available for both surface and recessed application, and in a number of lengths; the longest 3.6 meters (11.8 feet). We do not know what it would cost, but we are pretty sure it would look good in the kitchen. Or in the Smart Stuff HQ. [Via] 9 August 2007 ![]() New, smarter tech for corner cupboards. There is something about corner cabinets, at least the ones we like to call "half rondelles", that in spite of the great idea still does not let you get at the stuff way in. We have always thought this was unavoidable, and we have been happy with things as they were. We could not have been more wrong. Here is the LeMans corner unit, that allows access to the entire content of the cupboard through a smart combination of the swing and pull-out motion. The company behind the cabinet claims the rounded asymmetric design is reminiscent of the Le Mans race track curve progression (hence the name). Be that as it may, the idea seems to be a great one. Extra shelving for your kitchen cupboards.
If your kitchen cabinets look anything like ours, a little more room and lot more organization would be just the ticket. Even if we can move the shelves up and down, there is always a lot of space left that we cannot use. A thing that could remedy this, is this clever extra shelf called Add-A-Shelf. It looks pretty smart and is USD 10:95 at Plow & Hearth. A. B.![]() We have always had a hard time seeing what is way back in our cupboards. We are a bit short on height, if you know what we mean. With this smart shelf, though, the stuff in the back of the cupboard gets to stand on tiptoe, so we do not have to. At least we can see what is in there, so we can decide wether to go get a stool or not. The left shelf (A) is plastic and has a no-slip surface. It is USD 8:95 (ca SEK 69:-) at Plow & Hearth. The one on the right (B) in steel is from Home Marketplace and cost USD 14:95 (ca SEK 115:-). ![]() Under cabinet shelf. Our kitchen cabinets has an edge under the lower edge of the cabinets. It is supposed to hide the light fixture that is under there. However, the light does not cover the entire length of the cabinets, so there would be room for one of these. Maybe for spices and herbs (they are supposed to be stored somewhere dark) or for vitamins and other little bottles and packages like in the picture. USD 15:- (ca SEK 115:-) at Home Marketplace. There is a similar shelf, but made of steel and thus probably steadier, on Amazon for USD 25:-. 10 October 2005
