SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | APPAREL |..<.....6..7..8..9..10.....>...................USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS Welcome to the Smart Stuff clothes, shoes and accessories section with some of the world's smartest gadgets, inventions and ideas for wardrobe and clothing. Also browse the useful tips and tricks page for some clever and useful ideas. ![]() Button fastening tool. Loose buttons are always a problem. Particularly so, since you never notice you have a loose button until it is too late to do anything about it. We wrote a post on one simple solution to the problem a while back; Stephanie Arman Lindströms Button Clips, and here is another, albeit a little more complicated. The tiny tool, The Buttoneer, fastens loose buttons by means of "invisible fasteners" instead of needle and thread. What these invisible fasteners are, is not entirely clear, but we suspect they are something like the plastic hooks used to attach labels and price-tags to clothes. The Buttoneer kit contains the tool itself, 50 fasteners and 10 buttons. From Taylor Gifts at USD 19:98 a piece. 24 May 2006 ![]() Sandals that can be hung out to dry. Unfortunately we can't offer much information on these sandals, since the site is in Japanese. However, we can look at the picture, and we think it sums the whole thing up pretty good. We think they are pretty smart. From Yasui-san via Seihin-world. 20 May 2006 ![]() Inflatable clothes hanger. When we grew up we had inflatable clothes hangers pretty much like these in our washroom. They were perfect for sweaters, since they did not produce the sharp creases ordinary hangers did. Unfortunately our inflatable hangers broke one after the other. They had a metal hook that was attached to an eyelet in the plastic, and this was their achilles heal; the plastic eyelet was simply not strong enough to hold the sweater. We have missed the inflatable hangers ever since, and the other day we found these, with a different, and hopefully stronger, construction. From Taylor Gifts at USD 7:98 for two. 18 May 2006 ![]() Folding clothes hanger. Foldable wall mounted hanger for shirts and other stuff. Will almost disappear when not in use. Put one in the washroom or the bathroom to drip dry delicates, or in the guest room for convenience or in the garage for those dirty coveralls. The possibilities are almost infinite. Takes up to 60 lb. From Solutions for USD 19:95. ![]() Finger-socks. We've tried socks like these. We got them as part of the kit with bath stuff (robe, slippers, etc) they give you when you spend the night at Yasuragi Hasseludden (a Japanese style spa just outside Stockholm). The toe socks were very comfortable once we had gotten used to the feeling, but they were quite difficult to put on, since we had not done it before. Solutions, who sell these particular socks, claim that the separate toes helps avoid irritation and blisters and that it keeps feet dryer. We can agree with that. These socks are 70% polyester, 25% nylon and 5% spandex, but there are probably other kinds, if you look around a bit. From Solutions at USD 12:95 a pair. 14 May 2006 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..<.....6..7..8..9..10.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | MOTOR CYCLES | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
