| SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | CHILDREN |..<.....5..6..7.....> Welcome to the Smart Stuff children's section with some of the world's smartest gadgets, inventions and ideas for kids and parents. ![]() Nipple-adapter for ordinary PET bottles. One could be inclined to agree with the statement that it is amazing that no-one has thought of this nipple adapter before. Even the inventor himself, Johnny Habeeb, was surprised there was no such product in the market already. It is after all embarrassingly simple. A special adaptor and a nipple makes almost every PET bottle into a baby bottle. Baby gets a drink and parents know the water is fresh. For sale in American 7-Eleven and Circle-K stores for USD 1:95. More on BabySport. Via Strange New Products. 11 December 2006 ![]() Vacuum bags save space in the kid's closets. This is a tip from one of our readers who wishes to remain anonymous. (Anonymous is OK, as long as the editors know who you are.) Here's a piece of the mail (our translation): "...the vacuum bag ... is like a ziploc bag only with a hole in the bottom that only lets air out. You pack fluffy stuff and roll the bag to force the air out and compress the contents..." Our tipster had seen bags like these from Japan, and later on the TV-Shop shopping channel. We have seen bags like them in the US, but they were bigger and had to have the air pumped out with a vacuum-cleaner. These smaller bags seems easier to handle, even though they may not take as much stuff as the bigger ones. One version is available from the Swedish TV-Shop at SEK 299:- (approx. USD 42:-) for five bags in different sizes. Another is on Amazon for USD 34:50:- which buys 15 bags in different sizes. 19 November 2006 ![]() Shoes that grow with the kids. They are called Inchworm and that's pretty funny. But they also have a feature that we've actually never seen in shoes before. These kid's shoes can grow as the kid's feet grows. The possible expansion is not great (i.e two sizes in half-size increments) but it could save one in two, maybe even two in three, trips to the shoe store. Those kids grow out of their shoes faster than they can ever wear them out. Inchworm adjustable shoes are about USD 20:-. Via Über-review. 17 October 2006 ![]() Locking loop for bicycle helmets. Here is another pretty smart bike gadget, now that we are on the biking track. Everbody must have pondered, at one time or another, what to do with the helmet once you have parked the bike. Kryptonite locks will not go through the vents in the helmet, and that is the case with every wire lock we have tried, too. You do not want to lock it through the chin strap, so the solution is to bring the helmet wherever you go. This helmet locking loop may change all that. Just slip the loop through a vent hole and lock it to the bike with your ordinary lock. The plate makes sure the loop cannot be pulled through without destroying the helmet. The helmet lock "Hjälmsafe" (Helmet Safe) is SEK 39:- (about USD 5:30) on the Haninge Uppfinnareförenings (Haninge Inventor's Ass:n) gadget page Fiffiga Prylar (Clever Gadgets, Swedish only). 3 October 2006 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..<.....5..6..7.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | MOTOR CYCLES | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
