![]() 3-D printer. It is kind of hard to actually believe, but it seems to be true. There is a printer that can print in 3 dimensions (se the picture of the engine block above left). The machine supports CAD drawings and must be any designer's ultimate wet dream. The technology is supposed to be similar to that used in everyday laser printers, with the added feature of several layers (of course) and some kind of adhesive to keep the powder together. American Z Corporation have several models in different price ranges. The least expensive is USD 25,000:- (ca SEK 185.000:-). Not exactly pocket change, but even a small design firm could at least lease one just like one leases color printers from Canon. Considering the amount of service color printers need, the leasing option seems to be the only viable. Some large companies that do a lot of research and product development; Sony, Adidas, Canon, Harley Davidson, BMW, Porsche, Ford, DaimlerChrysler and others, have already gotten these printers. We do not know if there are any of them in Sweden, but boy, would we like to test drive one of these. Via Gizmag. 6 September 2005 ![]() Tamper proof packing tape. What if you want to send something very, very secret in the mail. A list of your best customers and their discounts, for instance. You will want to be sure no one tampers with the package. This is where this tape comes into play. According to Red Ferret, where we found it, your package cannot be tampered with without you knowing about it. The tape is used by pharmaceutical companies to protect shipments containing drugs and the likes. Sold at Archie McPhee for USD 4:95 (ca SEK 36:-) a roll. Via Red Ferret. 25 May 2005 ![]() Letter opener and letter scales all in one. The letter opener/scales called Epistola by Teo Enlund has been in the shops for a while, but we still want to share it with those that have not yet seen it. "Well, how does it work", we hear you ask. OK, the letter opener is pretty basic, but the letter scale is smart. You stick your letter into the curved slot at the end, and then a pencil through one of the holes. If the thing balances, you have found the correct weight. If not, reposition the pencil. The Epistola has been awarded the Utmärkt Svensk Form prize as well as the German design award Design Plus. We have seen it IRL at Designtorget and virtually on Designbutiken. 10 May 2005 ![]() The staple-free stapler. This little innovation has been with us for years, but we have never seen the likes of it anywhere else. We found it in a Paris stationer's on Rue Dauphine, if we are not mistaken. How much it was has been lost since, but it cannot have been a whole lot... The cool thing with this stapler is that it does not use any staples. It "staples" the papers together by cutting a strip of paper and a couple of slots through the sheets and tucking the paper strip into the slots. It is hard to describe in words, it really has to be experienced first hand. Apart from the obvious "I will be d*mned" effect it has another great advantage. It is environmentally friendly. No staples in the machine means no staples in the recycling-bin, right? 22 April 2005 ![]() Portable desk. This aluminum box is the same type of box that the Highway Patrol use to keep their ticket forms in. Only larger. This one has room enough for a stack of A4 size papers and some pens. It also sports a smart clip to keep current papers in place. Great for people on the go. Or to keep paperwork for a certain project. Found at Staples in L.A. for USD 39:90, but now we know they're also on Amazon for USD 24,00. 10 March 2005 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..1..2..3..4..5.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
