Already living space is one of the most expensive investments you can make. At least in our country and in the major cities area. So, if you're to make the most of the space you can afford, you need to employ smart solutions for interior design and furniture. Here's one example. This dining table can be folded flat to the wall and free up much needed floor space. But, in order not to make the folded table look odd, they have fitted a picture frame to the bottom side of it. [Via] 6 January 2010 Mushroom slicer and collector. As all of our readers must have noticed by now, we're very fond of smart and fun kitchen gadgets. Possibly because we like to cook and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. And that we have a soft spot for new gadgets. So when one of our favorite sites today produced this new mushroom cutter, we could not resist. The whole affair seems to be quite simple and straight forward. You push the cup with its slicer bottom down on the mushroom and the slices are collected in the cup. It's from Williams Sonoma and it's USD 14:95. [Via] 5 January 2010 A.B.C. Third hanger chair. Is this the original? We posted on Jörg Gätjens' hanger chair back in 2005. (B). Two years later we found another chair made along the same basic idea, this time from Pottinger & Cole (C). At the time we suspected that P&C had looked a little too much at Gätjens' chair/nightstand before they made theirs. But, lo and behold, this weekend we found a third variation (A) along this idea, and it looks like the oldest by far. So maybe Jörg Gätjens too found his inspiration outside of his own studio... Today's find is called "Jakkens Hvile" or "Valet chair JH-540" and it was designed in the early fifties (probably 1953) by well known Danish designer Hans Wegner (1914 - 2007) for furniture maker Johannes Hansen. The Valet chair is still in production, now by PP Møbler, and it's available new for about DKK 50,000:- (about USD 9,600:-). A vintage Valet chair will be a lot more expensive, you'll probably have to pay somewhere around USD 10,000:- to 15.000:- to lay your hands on one. Here's one for sale for SEK 95,000:- (approx.
