SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | GARDEN |..<.....6..7..8..9..10.....>....................USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS Welcome to the Smart Stuff garden and gardening section with some of the world's smartest stuff, tips and tricks for gardening and cultivation. Also browse the useful tips and tricks page for some clever and useful ideas. ![]() Another two-wheeled wheel barrow. Smart Stuff reader Roy Å. read our post on the two-wheeled wheel barrow, and e-mailed the link to this; a similar two-wheeler, but with what looks like a wider stance, which would probably enhance stability even more. Made of galvanized steel and SEK 579:- (approx. USD 80:-) at Jula, and that is a little cheaper than the other one we found. Thanks Roy, for the mail! /Ed. 28 August 2006 ![]() Water powered travelling sprinkler. It is entirely possible that the neighbors would lean on the fence and never stop wanting to borrow it. Or just watch it run its rounds across the lawn. It is the Raintrain water powered sprinkler and it travels along the hose, so if you lay it out cleverly enough you can get the entire lawn watered without lifting a finger. We found it on Amazon where it is USD 65:-. Not exactly cheap for a sprinkler, but how cool would it be? 24 July 2006 ![]() Hook on tool hanger. If you have a garage or garden shed with reasonably dimensioned rafters (looks like a 2x4 in the picture) you can hang your bike, tools and other stuff from the rafters without having to drill one hole or screwing one single screw. The answer is called Lumb-R-Grip and it is a clever hook that attaches itself to the rafter and that sticks harder the heavier the stuff you hang on it. If there are versions available for bigger rafters, we do not know, but these are USD 12:- for four on Amazon. 22 July 2006 ![]() Two wheeled wheelbarrow. Call it ignorance, or whatever you like, but we had never seen one of these before. But it strikes us as a pretty good idea, since the extra wheel will give it extra stability. Good for people who do not have strong arms and hands. We found it on Canadian Tire and it was CAD 100:- (about USD 90:-). 5 July 2006 ..![]() Watering seeds and seedlings using a nipple bottle. A while back we planted a bunch of seeds in various pots and planters. We planted lettuce and basil and lavender and a some other herbs that will look nice on the terrace. And find their way into our cooking on occasion. Well, new plants want water, but it turned out our watering pots were too brutal for the little seedlings. Our first attempt to resolve the issue was to use a squirt bottle, like the ones you use for ironing. This worked okay, but there was a LOT of squirting before all the little pots had their fill. The next ideas was the one we still use (pictures above). It turned out that the nipple bottle top from a half liter Imsdal water bottle fit the threads on the 1.5 liter Ramlösa bottle. So, with the new, larger, nipple bottle we can water the delicate little seedlings without upsetting them... 12 June 2006 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..<.....6..7..8..9..10.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | MOTOR CYCLES | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
