SMART STUFF | ARCHIVE | GARDEN |..<.....5..6..7..8..9.....>......................USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS Welcome to the Smart Stuff garden and gardening section with some of the world's smartest stuff, tips and tricks for gardening and cultivation. Also browse the useful tips and tricks page for some clever and useful ideas. ![]() Bottle- and glass holders for summer picnics. We know some towns and cities have severe restrictions on drinking alcoholic beverages in public. But on the other hand we know a lot of places that do not, so we thought we would include this nice picnic kit as our last post for spring, and as an introduction to the hopefully glorious summer that awaits us. This idea is so simple that we think anyone (with a fairly decent workshop) could make their own out of a few lengths of steel rod. (Not that we would encourage anyone to do so, of course.) These sticks come in fives; four glass sticks and one bottle stick, and they are USD 30:- on the Red Envelope e-store. 31 May 2006 ![]() Sandals that can be hung out to dry. Unfortunately we can't offer much information on these sandals, since the site is in Japanese. However, we can look at the picture, and we think it sums the whole thing up pretty good. We think they are pretty smart. From Yasui-san via Seihin-world 20 May 2006 ![]() Thermo bowls keeps food warm - or cold. These insulated bowls are perfect for serving food at the dinner or buffet table or for food preparation. Double wall insulation helps hot foods stay hot and cold foods stay cold. At A Cooks Wares, the big one (3,5 qt.) is USD 25:-, the middle one (1,5 qt.) is USD 21:-, and the little one (0,75 qt.) is USD 17:-. Danish Bodum makes similar bowls. They are available from, among other places, Amazon, where the large Midora (13in. Ø) is USD 60:-, the middle sized Mora (10in. Ø) is USD 40:- and the small Sora (6in. Ø) is USD 20:-. 19 May 2006 ![]() A night light for your garden umbrella. We have a garden umbrella that look pretty much like the one in the picture. Only white. We can see from the picture that this light would be just the thing, because even on a warm evening it's kind of nice to have the umbrella up over the table. This wireless umbrella light attaches to the umbrella post without tools, sports 24 LEDs and is promised to go for 4 hours on one set of 4 AA batteries (not included). From Taylor Gifts for USD 19:98. 16 May 2006 ![]() Party plate 2.0. Back in November last year we posted a piece on the James party plate from German design firm Sternform, and we thought it was a pretty elegant solution to an old problem. Yesterday we ran into this (above) idea during our walkabout on Gastronord, the hotel and restaurant fair in Stockholm. It is a Swedish idea, kind of a party plate 2.0 if there can be such a thing, with more features than previous competitors have had. Or what about holders for wine- beer- and (this is a Swedish innovation after all) a snaps glass. Or a clever grip inspired by an artist's palette, that makes the thing steadier than before. Or holders for both fork and spoon? Available in three versions, different colors, and it can be both recycled and washed in a dishwasher. From Swedish MingelDags from EUR 1:85 (about USD 2:30). 27 April 2006 THIS SECTION HAS MORE PAGES |..<.....5..6..7..8..9.....> DEPARTMENTS | APPAREL | APPLIANCES | BAR | BBQ | BICYCLE | CAR | CHILDREN | COMPUTERS/TELECOM | CULTURE | DVD | EDIBLES | ENVIRONMENT | FLASHLIGHTS/TORCHES | FOOTWEAR | GARDEN | HOME | INTERNET | INVENTIONS A-Z | KITCHEN | KITCHEN FURNITURE | LEISURE | LINKS | META | MISC. | OUTDOORS | PETS | PERSONAL CARE | PHOTOGRAPHY | READER'S CHOICE | SAFETY AND SECURITY | SERVICES | SMART STUFF aSTORE | SOLAR POWER | SOUND AND MUSIC | SWEDISH | THIRD WORLD | TRAVEL | TOOLS | VIDEO | WATER | WORK TIPS AND TRICKS | APPAREL | BAR AND DRINKS | BICYCLE | CAR AND DRIVING | COMPUTERS | CULTURE AND LEARNING | GARDENING | HOME | INTERNET | KITCHEN AND COOKING | OUTDOORS | PETS | TRAVEL | WORK AND BUSINESS Did you find the information on this site useful?
