Highsmith headphones hanger

Smart hook for headphones – and handbags.
A while back we did a post on a couple of smart inventions meant to make eating out safer for women, or at least for their purses. We had found two smart handbag hooks to be used to hang a purse or handbag on the side of the table instead of on the back of a chair, for instance. Here is another potential handbag saver. This manufacturer has intended it as a headphone hook, but hey – we can see other uses. Available in two sizes, four colors and at two prices; USD 6:29 for the big one, and USD 4:19 for the small one. At Highsmith. Via Book of Joe.

The Grill Thing grilling fork

Grill Thing grill fork.
It is called the The Grill Thing and it is a cone-shaped stainless steel spiral that can be attached to almost any stick you might find out in the wilderness. The spiral ends in a fork that holds your wiener or marshmallow. The inventor, Henrik Nordenhem, works with research on the pine weevil (Hylobius abietis) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. We are guessing his work has led to lots of lunches in the field, lots of camp fires, and enough dropped hot dogs to invent this fork. We think it is pretty clever, and we wish to extend our congrats. The Grill Thing is available at a number of outlets in the US and Canada at USD 2:99 (2-pack USD 4:99). In Sweden it is for sale at for instance Clas Ohlson, at SEK 34:- in a 2-pack. Which proves that smart stuff does not have to be either hi-tech or cost an arm and a leg. The Grill Thing

The alphabetical code padlock

Alphabetically coded code pad lock.
Kevin Kelly's Cool Tools wrote about this alphabetic pad lock a while back and the questions was why someone had not thought of this before. We cannot but agree. This simple and clever idea was sitting right under our noses and we did not see it. For those of us who got enough of PIN-codes several years ago, this lock feels like just the thing. Compared to ordinary number based locks it has a limited number of possible readable combinations, but with a bit of imagination you can always invent your own "words" that are easy to remember. Available at American office supply chain Staples at USD 5:98 (ca SEK 45:-). Via Book of Joe.

Charge to Go cellphone saver

Cell phone power backup.
"...hours of back–up power from a single AA!" Thus reads the ad for this device, which allows you to use an ordinary alkaline, lithium, or rechargeable AA battery to power your cellphone. It consists of an aluminum housing into which you slip your battery; the provided short length of cable uses one of an assortment of included adapters to connect to your cellphone. Comes in black, red, blue and silver for USD 24:95 (ca SEK 240:-) at Charge to Go (battery not included). Via Book of Joe.

Compro USB TV stick
Possibly the world's smallest TV.
From now on you do not have to miss the game just because you have to work. Or drag a television along to your cottage or boat. With this smart USB device you can watch television anywhere you happen to be (providing there is a signal). It is called USB TV Stick, comes from Compro, and is able to receive both analog and HDTV through the USB port. It supports both PAL, NTSC and SECAM standards, and also recording in MPEG 2 and 4. The best part, however, is that this little wonder works without an external power source. It takes all the juice it needs from the USB port. Should you be interested in the HDTV version, be advised that it requires a 2.4 GHz processor, while the analog will make do with 800 MHz. Via Gizmodo and Trusted Reviews.
