Lost manual? Check this site.
If you have lost your manual, or maybe bought some used stuff on E-bay that had it's manual missing, you have a good chance of finding one here. The UsersManualGuide.com site has collected thousands (to be honest we have not counted them, but there really is a lot) of manuals for lots of different stuff, from motherboards, to cameras, and hi-fi stuff, and washing-machines, and... well, it goes on and on. Someone has put in a huge effort to collect all these. A pity they do not have a function where readers can contribute. Imagine what the combined efforts of all us netizens could do for this site...

Map of free Wi-Fi hotspots in Barcelona, Spain
Map from Free Hotspot directory.

Free Wi-Fi if you know were to look.
During our trip recently almost all the time we felt the lack of connection, particularly wireless connection, and specifically free wireless connection. If we had known about this service, maybe everything would have been different. Here is a directory of (at the time of writing) 9,162 free Wi-Fi hotspots all over the world. When we looked, the US was on top of the list with 6,487 free hotspots, and San Francisco was the leading city with 372 spots. As for the rest of the world, Brazil and Argentina are the two best countries with 400 and 387 free hotspots respectively. Sweden, alas, has managed only 3. The available spots are maybe not always the easiest to reach, but we are hoping for lots more in the near future. Meanwhile keeping an eye out for the logo below could be a very good idea, indeed. One of our favorite cities, Barcelona in the north of Spain, (see the map above) have more than three times as many free hotspots as Sweden does! Free Hotspot directory. Via Shiny Shiny.

Mobil-pit cellphone charging station

Charging station for cellphone.
This tip comes from reader Per H. in Örebro, Sweden: Why didn't we think of this? Everybody needs a place to put their mobile while it is recharging. It's either the kitchen counter top, the windowsill, beside the bed, on the floor... There are probably as many places as there are mobile users and homes. With the Mobil-pit your phone and charger stays in one place with the cord neatly rolled up. We think it's pretty smart, but we also think it requires a waist height power outlet. It you have one of those, it's a must buy. Only EUR 7:95 plus shipping on HML Trading.

Cellboost cellphone emergency battery
Cellphone power spare.
Yesterday evening, when we had to wait a while for the tram, we went into the adjacent Pressbyrån (newsagents, etc) store at Gullmarsplan looking for any new gadgety magazines. We did not come out with any, though, since our attention was caught by these little things (above). The Cellboost is about the size of a Zippo lighter, and is a spare battery for cellphones. It will give you an extra hour of yada-yada time, and we immediately bought one for the Nokia (they're also available for many Sony Ericson models). We don't know if they are sold in any other places, but the Pressbyrån has a lot of stores... The thing was SEK 49:- (about USD 6:40) a piece. More details on Cellboost or at Jumpit, the Norwegian importer.
