John Braams' Skoona Mova beer tray

One man brings four beers, does not spill a drop.
This little invention may well obliterate a classic rite of passing. We are of course referring to the "bring another round of drinks" challenge, that to boot has to be performed at the same time as one is getting familiar with one's limitations regarding the content of said drinks. This clever, reusable and foldable plastic tray is the brain child of Australian John Braams, who simply got tired of the always unstable and often soggy beer trays that seems to be standard in Aussie watering holes. Enter the Skoona Mova, his name for his invention. It is simply a plastic tray with holes to accommodate four large beers, with better balance and completely impervious to spillage. Between rounds the smart tray can be folded and tucked away in a pocket. Now John hopes someone will pick up on his idea and start manufacturing. We say "good luck" to John B. and "cheers" to Gizmag who found the story.

Vacu-vin wine saver
Vacuum wine saver. Sadly forgotten in the era of the B-I-B.
As far as we have gathered from the news lately, there is at least two noteworhty consequences of the B-I-B break-through in Sweden. One is that this practical packaging steadily gains market shares, while traditionally bottled wine loses, at least as far as table wines are concerned. The other, that the Swedes seems determined to single-handedly drink the entire world's wine surplus. The fact that larger packaging leads consumers to larger purchases (and subsequently larger consumption) of a product is not news. The fact that boxed wine, without indication of how much of the contents is consumed, will lead consumers to a larger consumption of wine, should not be a surprise either. We look back to the old days, three years ago or so, when there were no B-I-Bs, and it was still OK to put the cork back in after dinner. The Vacu-vin Wine Saver is a clever vacuum pump that, with the help of it's special corks, makes sure that your left-over wine is good to drink to-morrow or the day after. Vacu-vin. USD 11:- on Amazon for 1 pump and 2 stoppers.

1.Kwik-top bottle lock 2.Kwik-top bottle lock 3.Kwik-top bottle lock

Soda bottle lock for times of no trust.
This is news and maybe consolation for those among us who live in constant fear of being poisoned or having their soft drink stolen. This is the Kwik-top bottle lock. Kwik-top claims to have perfected a small, re-usable bottle lock that allegedly has an unique feature in the combination locking device. Kwik-top may very well be unique in the aspect that their lock locks on the outside of the bottle neck, but we have already presented another bottle lock for valuable bottles with a combination lock. This lock may be more expensive (we have yet to find out the price for the Kwik-top) but it looks more solid to us. Via Gizmag.

Dd industries ice making bottle
Clever ice bottle.
A bit fun and a bit weird but pretty smart once you get the hang of it. Fill the ice maker bottle with water enough to fill the hollows. Put the cap on and let freeze. Make sure you keep the thing horizontal in the freezer. When you need ice, take it out and slam it against your counter top a couple of times until the ice comes loose inside. Shake to verify. Unscrew cap and pour some ice half-globes into your drink. We found ours at Mats Theselius' shop in Österlen, but they are also available at Dd Industries and Comfort House at about seven bucks US.

Leopold bottle lock
How to protect that single malt.
This is the new way of making sure no-one samples that rare single malt while you are out. Or swills down that last cup of Dom from yesterday, that you were going to use for a delicious sauce tonight. All you have to do is set the code, put the plug into your precious bottle, twist until it will not go any further and scramble the numbers on the bottle stop. This last part of the procedure is not to be overlooked. It comes from Leopold in Germany and we have seen it advertised on Danish Gadgets.dk for DKK 179:- (ca EUR 23:50, or GBP 16:-).
