LED Flex light tube

Bendable LED tube to replace neon?
LED lighting is becoming more and more common. First there were flashlights (torches), then car lights (at least rear lights and indicators) and here is the flexible LED tube that could replace neon. Neon tubing does require a lot of skill to form into letters or symbols. It seems the people who can do this are getting few and far between. That said, there are one or two real new neon signs in Stockholm. The one at the Marie Laveau restaurant and bar, for instance. (Read more about the real Marie Laveau here. For the most part, though, the city is littered with the usual ugly lighted boxes with ordinary neon tubes inside. Now, this new(?) flexible LED tube could mean our salvation from light box hell. It can be bent, it is impervious to shock and vibration, it can be used in any kind of weather (we'll have to see about Swedish winters) it is more efficient than ordinary lights and it is available in red, green, blue and yellow. If this stuff is not too expensive, we'll be able to take this year's Christmas decorations to a whole new level... Available in Sweden from, among other places, Flux (in the US, try Mule of Providence, RI), but we have not been able to find any indication of price. Via Gadget Garden.

Ketchup saver

Thou shalt not waste any ketchup.
It may be a bit old fashioned, but we think it is smart anyway. The white tube is threaded at both ends, and allows you to connect two ketchup (or other suitable) bottles to let the last of the content in the old bottle pour into the new one without spilling. Just screw tight and let the bottles alone for a while. Or a couple of hours, if you are dealing with ketchup. Ketchup is a slooow medium. Put up USD 1:99 and it is yours. From Organize.com. Toilet brush with scotch-brite padThai food decoration toolsDusting mittJapanese ginger and garlic graterMiniature straight razor

The latest additions to our collection.
Yesterday was April 1st. April Fools Day. As you may have noticed we did not post yesterday. That was deliberate, since we thought that the stuff we post here is pretty unbelievable on any day of the year, no-one would believe us on April Fools Day. But here we are on April 2, and here are our latest gadgets; some stuff we got while on our trip in March. (A) It is a toilet brush or toilet scrub, but the actual brush is replaced with a scotch-brite pad. We have not tried it yet, but we think it is going to make short work of the stuff that is... ah... hard to remove with an ordinary brush. (C) This is a version of the dusting mitt we blogged earlier, and when we stumbled upon it we thought it would be fun to try it out. (B) The knife and the other tool are both Thai food decoration tools, and we are going to see if we can learn a little. The knife was THB 154:- (about USD 3:95) and the other thing THB 20:- (about 50 cents US). (D) It is a tiny Japanese metal grater. We cannot really tell if it is a garlic grater or a ginger grater, but it sure works for both. THB 185:- (about USD 4:70). (E) looks like a tiny scythe, but it is actually a mini straight razor, the only one we have ever seen. It is very good for removing hair in the nostrils, but we cannot say what is was intended for. THB 39:- (about a buck US).
